Topography / Photogrammetry / Laser scanning
Large and complex sites, buildings and artifacts can be reconstructed in 3D through methodologies based on classical topography and existing maps, photogrammetry and laser scanner. They produce optimal and accurate 3D models and the final result depends on the desired level of detail, required accuracy as well as the object dimensions, shape and complexity.
It is not easy to identify the best approach. Every situation is different (location, dimensions, costs, etc.). Often, the best solution is to combine and integrate different sensors and surveying techniques, in order to take advantage of each technique and to obtain multi-resolution data at several levels of details, in particular, with large and complex sites.
